Perhaps not, I don't know the UK system.
I was merely trying to illustrate the difference between the number of
mons that the system is configured with (the ones eligible to vote), and
the number of mons actually alive and able to vote at a specific time.
For the first group, it is a good idea to have an odd number, as adding
just one extra mon won't buy you anything.
For the second group, it doesn't matter if the number is odd or even -
only thing matters is that the number is greater than half of the
configured mons.
