I went to the following site:http://dag.wieers.com/home-made/apt/FAQ.php#B
in order to use the DAG repository with "up2date"
i added "yum dag http://apt.sw.be/redhat/el4/en/$ARCH/dag";
to "/etc/sysconfig/rhn/sources",now installing mplayer
was simply : "up2date mplayer" in the console (as root).
