Influenza activity is increasing slightly among children but remains low nationally.

H5 Bird Flu Update

CDC highlights new resources for employers of farm workers, outreach efforts, including a radio media tour on a seasonal flu vaccination program for farm workers, and findings from genetic sequencing of avian influenza A(H5) viruses from recent human infections in Washington and California. Since April 2024, CDC has confirmed avian influenza A(H5) virus infections in 53 people in the United States.

New CDC Report Shows Underutilization of Influenza Antiviral Treatment among Children and Adolescents

A new CDC Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) shows a decline in the use of antiviral drugs for treatment of children and adolescents hospitalized with influenza (flu) during the 2023-2024 flu season compared with prior seasons. CDC recommends that all children and adolescents hospitalized with flu and those at higher risk of serious flu-related complications receive prompt treatment.
