Next Vaccine Code Set Update Planned for Publication the week of December 16, 2019

Pre-Release notification: The Immunization Information System Support Branch (IISSB) will release an update of the vaccine code sets during the week of December 16 to December 20, 2019. While it can be difficult to predict the exact date published code set updates will be available for public access, this notification is intended to help users plan their update schedules.

Access to the Vaccine Code Sets: The updated code sets will be available on the CDC’s website and to registered users of the CDC’s Vaccine Code Set Management Service (VCSMS). Registered users of VCSMS may directly import the codes into their organization’s system by accessing the CDC Content Cloud. For more information on VCSMS, email the IIS Info Mailbox at iisinfo@xxxxxxx.

Release Schedule: IISSB will provide updates to its vaccine code sets every odd-numbered month – i.e. January, March, May, July, September, and November. However, updates may occur more frequently during times of enhanced need, such as when there are new vaccines for the flu season. If there are no updates in a scheduled release month, a notification will be provided.

Summary of Upcoming Updates:
The following updates are in process and will be included in the next release of the vaccine code sets as described above. Further details of the changes will be provided in the release notes that accompany the vaccine code set update. For questions related to this announcement, please contact iisinfo@xxxxxxx.

1. Vaccine Product Code Updates: A new Sanofi Product will be added for “FLUZONE High-Dose Quadrivalent”
2. CVX Code Updates: A new CVX Code will be added for influenza, high-dose, quadrivalent
   
3. CPT to CVX Map Updates: A new map from CPT to the new CVX code will be added
   
4. NDC Unit of Sale and Units of Use Code Updates: Two new NDCs will be added as listed below
