Web Site Vaccine Code Set Publication Date: December 16, 2019
Release Notes: This release does not include updates for Vaccine Information Statement (VIS) codes and maps. Release notes and files for VIS code updates are distributed in separate release cycles. General Note regarding this release: Codes with “Last Update” dates after November 22, 2019 reflect the changes and additions in this release and include the following code set updates:
All changes for this release are related to a new Sanofi influenza high-dose quadrivalent product for the 2019/2010 season. This product introduction was a late addition to the 2019/2020 influenza season.
- Vaccine Product Code Updates: A new Sanofi Product has been added to the CDC Product Name file for “FLUZONE High-Dose Quadrivalent”. This product is mapped to the new CVX code below and to MVX code “PMC”.
- CVX Code Updates: Consistent with our CVX editorial practice, a new CVX Code 197 "influenza, high-dose seasonal, quadrivalent, preservative free" has been added to reflect the new quadrivalent product. CVX 197 has been associated to Vaccine Group “FLU”.
- DC Unit of Sale and Units of Use Code Updates: Two new NDCs have been added as listed below. Both are associated with CVX 197.
Proprietary/Trade Name | Start Date | UoS NDC Code | UoU NDC Code |
---|
FLUZONE High-Dose Quadrivalent | 20191101 | 49281-120-65 | 49281-120-88 |
- CPT to CVX Map Updates: No map from CPT to the new CVX code 197 has been added at this time. As this is a new product introduction, we will monitor AMA updates to the CPT files for an appropriate CPT code. Currently, the only CPT code for a high-dose influenza vaccine is CPT code 90662 "Influenza virus vaccine (IIV), split virus, preservative free, enhanced immunogenicity via increased antigen content, for intramuscular use". This CPT code is mapped to CVX code 135 "Influenza, high dose seasonal” and corresponds to the current FLUZONE High-Dose (not quadrivalent) product for the 2019/2020 season.
NEW Website downloadable file. All NDC11 to NDC10 Reference. A new downloadable crosswalk file has been added to the website’s NDC files with this release as a reference tool. It provides a list of all unique NDCs included in the vaccine code set files. This file will be useful when a user receives an NDC in one format but needs to easily cross-walk that NDC to a different format.
The new file includes the following fields:
NDC11 Formatted | NDC11 Unformatted | NDC10 Formatted | NDC10 Unformatted | Description | Tradename |
---|
00005-0100-01 | 00005010001 | 0005-0100-01 | 0005010001 | meningococcal group B vaccine | Trumenba |
Examples for using this reference table include:
- Bar codes to CDC files. Bar codes include the NDC10 Unformatted value. Using this reference table, the user can translate the NDC10 Unformatted code to the NDC11 Formatted value which is the format provided on CDC vaccine code set files and the NDC to CVX maps.
- DailyMed research. A user may wish to look-up an NDC from a CDC Unit of Sale or Unit of Use file to see the information about that drug in DailyMed. In this case, The CDC NDC is presented in the NDC11 Formatted value, but the search in DailyMed will require entering the NDC10 Formatted value.
