Please try gnome-orca after hitting alt-f2, that may work.

If needed juste warn, I use Debian Lxde with orca, mate is more accessible
however but it seem to have an issue on wireless, I currently check with
the debian mailing list for that. (Issue reported for 2 users, zone tester

OK lightdm is your display manager. It should have a shortcut, I believe
it's f3, that should start Orca. You could also try alt+super+s, in case
Debian adopted Ubuntu's keyboard shortcut.
