Probably you can create a regular user account just
like any other linux. No need to run in privileged
mode for e.g. editing text files, especially when you
might copy a huge buffer of ??? to the command line
by accident, to mention just one of many possible 
unintended actions.

What is your main reason to prefer kali? Hardware
compatibility?
