Hey Eric, I didn't do my research last night. People have ported ArchLinux to the PowerPC. The packages look fresh, as well. Look here: <http://archlinuxppc.org/>. Unfortunately, none of the packages from the [community] repository are available. Thus, you would have to build speakup and espeakup yourself.
