John, You might not have standard internet services running on your machine. Check your /etc/inetd.conf or the /etc/inet.d/telnet file. Also check that inetd is running . Example: ps -e | grep inetd If your co workers cannot get to your machine by name, give them the ip address and ask them to telnet to that.
