This ends up being a "depends what you like" answer.
I love slackware. Others love redhat. They can do
the same things. Slackware lovers like how things
are simple in slackware (as an architecture with
less layers of automated stuff). Redhat lovers like
how a lot of the time things "just work" but they
don't know how or why they work. You can probably
get redhat up and running easier, but with slack
you can understand how the system works easier.
