Hi,
	Depending on what you want to do with your server i probably wouldn't be
putting x on it, or if you did lock down port 6000 so it can not be
accessed.
	As to which is better it depends on what you like. I've used both and
deployed both systems for personal and corporate uses. Redhat is more
automated, there facilities work more out of the box, they have many
variants of configuration tools, but they also install a great many
dependencies for such luxuries. Slackware is a more get to know your
system OS, you'll learn why and how things work more if you go with it.
	It basically comes down to personal preference.
