yasr is a program you build, and it works on Unix systems. It also works on Linux systems but doesn't use any features unique to Linux. speakup at least so far is a kernel patch. yasr has a review mode like dos screen readers have and menus if memory serves available from ithin review mode that can configure it. yasr stores .yasrc in a user's home directory where it writes configuration information and can read configuration information from as needed.
