I use a 40-cell display but have had occasion to use a 18 and 20 cell. Once used to the larger display, the smaller one feels like a major disadvantage to me. Not near as much info gets placed on the display, with word wrap on it is quite often that only 3 words get displayed. I for one would only use a smaller display if no other one at all is available, for any display is better than none. Recently I noted a braille lite 40 for sale at www.computerassistivetech.com. Perhaps it would help as it is cheaper than new things. ***Notice, I have no affiliations or experience with this website.*** ** Travis Roth www.TravisRoth.com travis@travisroth.com -----Original Message----- From: blinux-list-admin@redhat.com [mailto:blinux-list-admin@redhat.com] On Behalf Of Cheryl Homiak Sent: Friday, November 22, 2002 5:35 PM To: blinux-list@redhat.com Subject: braillelite 18 vs. braillelite 40 (fwd) Just discovered I sent this to blinux-newbie instead of blinux; must change my nicknames!!! I have been using a braillelite 40 to which I had access as part of a job from which I am resigning. I can get a refurbished braillelite 18 for much less than a refurbished braillelite 40. Does anybody on list use a braillelite 18 or has anybody can use both? I'd like to know if so many fewer braille cells is a great enough handicap that I should just try to wait until I can save for a 40. Any oppinions and/or comparisons would be welcome from people using shorter displays even if theyare not braillelites. Thanks.
