You can read the contents of a virtual console via the /dev/vcs
interface.  It looks like you can use an IOCTL to emulate the
"writing" of characters to /dev/vcs to emulate the mouse function.

It's probable that the underlying mechanisms have changed in
kernel 2.5/2.6.
