Papenmeier EL40(p)

Hi all,

I'm just about to send a request to be able to buy a new braille
display for my last student's years. I have a portable 20-sized
bloc-note, but it isn't really made to work a lot on computers - many
hours a day. I went to Autonomic, Paris, and got good feelings about
Papenmeir EL40(p) as it is still portable so I can bring it to any
workstation, and the easy-bar system seams very interesting. I don't
know any user of this displays, so I'd like to obtain feedback or some
advice about it. Feel free to advice other models as I've probably not
heard about all... But if so, wonder if it would be appropriate to a
student that spends many hours on a PC.
Now, software aspect speaking, I found that EL40(p) would work with
BRLTTY, so the same : any feedback ?

Sharp things I would ask to the vendor (but I may not trust him as I
on't know him...) : Would the routing cursor very confortable/robust ?
Are the characters tables customizable (and could I se all ASCII chars
?) ? How can I connect it to my PC (USB may be not so easy under linux
- anyway, BRLTTY may enable it I don't know yet) ? Generally, is the
display good ? Is it really made to be transported ?...

So I thank you for paying me attention, I look forward to your tips on
this, all remarks are welcome.

Boris

ps: the time to test Mario's boot floppies is just there... Feedback
soon on it.
