Rafael, Thanks for very good answers to my questions on backups and telnet. Now how do I change to ext3? I tried to get the latest kernel for Redhat Linus, but the up2date program skips anything to do with the kernel, and if I download rpm's and try to do it manually I get tangled up in dependencies.
