brltty at boot

I am using debian and have just started using brltty. I want to start
brltty as early in the boot process as possible without causing problems.
Right now, I have

[ -x /sbin/brltty ] && /sbin/brltty

in /etc/init.d/bootmisc.sh. This works, but I'm not sure it's the best or
earliest placement. Should I move the statement and, if so, do I also
need to change the form?
Thanks.
