Hi.  That depends on your distribution.  I use Debian.  Upgrading
to the latest version is done by typing a few commands.  I have speech
during the whole process.  As a matter of fact, you don't even reboot
the system.  I'm sure other distributions like Slackware and Redhat
have something similar.
