Switching active app through CAN BUS

Hello everyone,
my name is Marcel Neumann and I am a Masterstudent of Reutlingen University. I am currently working on a gesture control system for our driving simulator, which is running agl. I managed to get the gesture controls working within the radio app, meaning I can change the volume and the station by swiping with my hand. Now I'm trying to enable switching the app entirely. My current idea is to implement the CAN Bus handler into the apps.js file that is part of the html5-homescreen app. My question is: Since the homescreen is controlled through the touchscreen, is there an already implemented way to highlight the currently selected app in the scrollbar on the left side? I also wanted to ask if my understanding of the code is correct, that all the apps are launched at the start and selecting one from the homescreen only changes the display? If so, would all apps detect a CAN Bus signal they are subscribed to, even if the app is currently not selected?

Thank you in advance for any help.

Best regards,

Marcel Neumann
