Hi Jan-Simon,

I did try adding the option of AGL_EXTRA_IMAGE_FSTYPES += "vmdk.xz" in the build/conf/local.conf file and then ran the command

bitbake agl-demo-platform

However, it gave the following errors -

pmk@pmk-Latitude-E5470:~/AGL-test/agl-ff-6.0.2/agl-flounder-6.0.2/build$ bitbake agl-demo-platformLoading cache: 100% |########################################################################################################| Time: 0:00:00

Summary: There were 6 ERROR messages shown, returning a non-zero exit code.

Is there any other configuration that is required prior to adding AGL_EXTRA_IMAGE_FSTYPES += "vmdk.xz" in the local.conf?

PMK

Hi George,

Thanks for this information, the "*.wic.vmdk" image does indeed boot on the Laptop as per the instructions given under "Boot qemu" in the link - AGL Developer Site - Build for Qemu -

The only point is that the screen appears rotated by 90 degrees to left and one really has to play with the cursor to bring it to focus on an item in the "Home Screen".

Thanks Jan-Simon for your suggestion, I haven't tried your option of adding the  AGL_EXTRA_IMAGE_FSTYPES += "vmdk.xz" yet, shall try it later.

As a first timer to AGL, I suggest that it would be a real help if this is corrected in the AGL documentation so as to avoid getting stuck up. Hope that it can be rectified soon for everyone's benefit.

Regards,
PMK

You can also boot the .wic.vmdk file directly.

I always thought myself that the instructions in the documentation were out of
date mentioning .vmdk.xz instead of .wic.vmdk
