I have a Gigabyte SR101T 1U rack server with PDC20265R controller
I need to boot from disks on promise controller, and i must create raid array to do so, but i don't want to use raid.
Do you think it's safe creating the array in promise bios, using the raid controller only as an eide controller (ie: enabling CONFIG_BLK_DEV_PDC202XX and not CONFIG_BLK_DEV_ATARAID_PDC and accessing disks as /dev/hde - /dev/hdg)?

You can create an array with only one disk. Or if that doesn't work just create a mirror.
