Patching 2.4.x with MBFastTrack 133 Lite code from 2.5.x?

Hello,

the ASUS A7V333 comes with a Promise MBFastTrack 133 Lite RAID
controller.
The Debian Woody works fine using Kernel 2.4.19.
There is the known problem with the disabled UDMA and
files can only be copied at about 2MB/Sec from HD to HD.

I noticed that there are quite a few changes in the 2.5.39
kernel for Promise 20276 controllers. So the idea is to
take the code for this controller from the unstable kernel
and using it to patch 2.4.x.
The only thing I would like to add is the code for switching
the controller to UDMA mode.

Has someone experience in taking code from the later kernel
and inserting it into the current or is this a waste of time?

Greetings,
Christian
