Still no joy.  However I create the arrays in the BIOS doesn't seem to
affect any problem.  When I load the pdcraid module I always get 

<7>Promise Fasttrak(tm) Softwareraid driver 0.03beta: No raid array found

I also have the curious message "PDC20267: neither IDE port enabled
(BIOS)" that I can't seem to resolve.

Are these controler supposed to act like normal IDE if no RAID arrays
are defined?
