i am currently running lvm over ataraid (promise) on my
 asus tusl2 board - works fine.
don't know about the reiserfs stuff though

you'll have to upgrade/patch your kernel to include at least lvm-1.0.2.
kernel 2.4.17 has lvm-1.0.1rc4 as far as i know

lvm-1.0.2 and later has support for lvm on /dev/ataraid devices included
