Hi!

I have a FastTrak 100 TX2 pci card (why, oh why didn't I choose some other
card).
I'm installing a new linux system under RedHat 7.2. How should I configure
the
RAID system for a mirroring array?

1. Promise drivers
I found drivers (http://www.gigabytenetworking.com/info/DriverDowload.asp)
which
work with RedHat 7.2, but they seem not to be supported by Promise.
Furthermore:
- I can't compile a new kernel with these binary drivers
- I can't be sure the array will function stably with these drivers

2. ATA Raid
I managed to get FT working with ATA Raid, but:
- Someone on this list said, that ATA Raid should be used only to maintain
array compatibility with Windows, and I'm installing a Linux-only server
- ATA Raid does not support off-line disks, and shouldn't be used for
production
servers.

3. Linux software RAID
Finally, I can use the linux software RAID. But how will this work with
FastTrak?
Should I delete the RAID 1 array in the FastTrak BIOS and leave two seperate
drives? Is it possible to convert an ATA Raid array to a linux software RAID
array?
There are several implementations of the software RAID - which one should I
use?

Thanks for any help.
