All, I have successfully used the 21.7.5 patched lilo with 2.4.13-ac8. However, I cannot get it to work with 2.4.17. Basically I do: mount root=/dev/ataraid/d0p5 mem=720M hdc=ide-scsi BTW, I am using the latest MAKEDEV etc. This works, as I say, for 2.4.13-ac8. However for the 2.4.17 the kernel panics saying root "ataraid/d0p5" is invalid or it does not have 00a. I even checked: http://ataraid.slimyhorror.com/ Anybody got any ideas? I, too, have the same interupt problem... the drives are there. I was able to create partitions - as individual drives, but am unable to format. Appearantly my ide0 on the TX2 has failed, so I currently have 2x80g on ide1. At this point, I'd be happy to just get access to the drives, I'll live without the raid if needed. Else, maybe an adaptec 2400a or a 3ware... Also, saw some adapters that will take the the ata drives and convert them to UW-SCSI 68pin and U-SCSI 50pin for my on board scsi raid adapter @$88/ea... for 2 drives, this option is looking better with every FastTrak fault.... I abandoned the stock kernel for 2.4.16 because it Works. In all other aspects, it's a stock 8.0 install, and seems to run great. Just an idea. Try the 2.4.16 kernel. How would be the best way to do this, without a complete reinstall? Move it from the SW raid to my backupdrive and restore it, with it working on the HW Raid? I abandoned the stock kernel for 2.4.16 because it Works. In all other aspects, it's a stock 8.0 install, and seems to run great. Just an idea. Try the 2.4.16 kernel. Date: Tue, 8 Jan 2002 21:04:41 -0800 Reply-To: ataraid-list@xxxxxxxxxx Greetings - The adaptec 2400a works with the native i2o drivers; the 3ware also has excellent native support (I really do like the 3ware, but they are now very expensive as the 7000 series is the minimum configuration available)... I have both the 2400a and the 3ware cards, they are both excellent and comparable to each other. The 2400a, however, does beat the 3ware in Raid 5... On the other hand, the 3ware kicks the 2400a in 1+0... - Stu ----- Original Message ----- From: "Eric Sandquist" <esandquist@xxxxxxxx> To: <ataraid-list@xxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, January 08, 2002 1:03 PM Subject: RE: Promise FastTrak 100 TX4 success! > That's fine for the 2.4.16 kernal... but I'm using the 2.4.34.mdk kernal for > Mandrake 8.1.
