I make some test, I try to use ataraid mirror, compiled 2.4.13 (vanilla) kernel, copy kernel in debian bootdisk, boot, mknod device nodes, make pertitions, install, modify fstab, lilo. First thing where broblem comes is that lilo can't handle ataraid device, no broblem make bootdisk, rdev correct root, boot and up runnig. (there are also working lilo somewhere?) But when power down one disk (simulate failure), machine die. That and lilo broblem is good enough... I switch software raid (btw. ata-raid is not hardware raid). Lilo work great, you are able power down one disk, and machine still runnig, hot-spare & hot-reconstruction working. It might be posible to hotswap broken disk and reconstruct..? btw promise don't boot if arrays are not defined. If you define array it use two last sector. So don't use two last cylinder in partitions. ps. last mail, msi-k7t broblem was kernel misconfiguration, I config ata-disk module, but it can't be module with ata-raid.. (idea: ramdisk root, ide module, hotswap disk, reload module...) -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* **** Eerin Rosenström **** ** Servinmaijantie 12 F 77 ** ** 02150 Espoo ** ** p. +358 9 4682997 ** **** p.040-5205030/050-5472631 **** -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
