True. And what PA probably needs most and ALSA does not provide
is a way to provide *lots* of buffering (more than a second, in
cases where latency does not matter), while at the same time 
allowing an app to 'review' or 'rewind' this buffering in order
to ensure responsiveness to user commands (such as stop/play for
a player).
