RedirectMatch uses Perl Compatible regular Expressions. This is a subject all on its own! Get started at http://perldoc.perl.org/perlre.html

You've posted this several times and I've never yet fathomed what you're trying to do. Your questions above and below indicate you don't know either :-)

$1 replays the first matched group in the regexp.
