It is sufficient to change the Listen and VirtualHost directive and restart apache for change to take effect.
....
Listen 127.0.0.1:8080
....
<VirtualHost 127.0.0.1:8080>
....

What happening in your case? is your web server still responding to default 80? Can you show the relevant config directives to spot what you are doing wrong.

Hi,
Am having a problem with the Apache Web Server related to the Port Number change.

Shouldn't changing the Listen Port Directive in the httpd.conf file be sufficient to change the port number where the webserver , will be listening for requests , followed by a restart of the service ? This simple approach is not working for a custom build binary , made from httpd-2.0.53 tar ball. Please help. regards, Sujith
