Hi Eric! I'd say so - IE 6.0.2800.1106 with option 'always send URLs as UTF-8 - Firefox 1.0 (windows and linux) But is that really the problem? Even if I do not send UTF-8, the apache might want to send the searchpart to the webpage and let it deal with it(?) the log tells me that the conversion takes place: <snip> (22)Invalid argument: utf8 to ucs2 conversion failed on this string: REDIRECT_QUERY_STRING=aPart=author&aLang=all&aSearch=m\xfcller-werner [Thu Mar 31 16:58:30 2005] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] (22)Invalid argument: couldn't create child process: 22: php-cgi.exe, referer: http://localhost/vdm/bonmots.php5?aPart=M&Lang=dt [Thu Mar 31 16:58:30 2005] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] (22)Invalid argument: couldn't spawn child process: C:/php5/php-cgi.exe, referer: http://localhost/vdm/bonmots.php5?aPart=M&Lang=dt </snip> > > > > I need to use 8bit characters in the search part of a URL (e.g. > > German, Swedish, French characters).
