The scheduled July 2009 opening of the new passenger terminal at Niagara Fa=
lls International Airport may be delayed by a few weeks.

Officials from the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority learned that t=
hree roof support beams in the 68,000-square-foot terminal had to be re-man=
ufactured, potentially delaying the opening of the $30 million terminal.

t later in the month,=E2=80=9D said Mike Bykowski, NFTA director of enginee=
ring.

The delivered beams were =E2=80=9Ca few inches=E2=80=9D short and sent back=
to Syracuse for re-manufacturing, Bykowski said. The new beams should be a=
rriving soon.

All of the other work at the terminal remains either on schedule or ahead o=
f schedule, Bykowski said.

The NFTA anticipates work on the airport=E2=80=99s extended runway apron an=
d circular roads leading into the new terminal to start in September. The n=
ew apron will be able to accommodate smaller airplanes and up to 747s.
