The fleet is not that old.  After Carter cancelled the B-1 program =
Reagan
resurrected it and it became the B-1B after being totally redesigned.  I
remember seeing the prototype B-1 at Edwards in the early 80's.  So, I =

guess that most of the aircraft date to the mid to late 80's.  =

there were supposed to be 100 aircraft delivered and a couple were lost =
in
training accidents.  I was surprised to read that there are only 67
remaining. It has had its share of teething problems and it's been =
grounded
on more than one occasion.
