British Airways plane diverted to Montreal

MONTREAL - A London-bound British Airways plane carrying 302 passengers from
Phoenix, Ariz., was diverted to Montreal early Sunday after pilots noticed a
burning smell in the cockpit.
The Boeing 747 made the unscheduled stop at 3 a.m. The airline booked hotel
rooms for passengers while engineers inspected the aircraft.
They found a problem with a recirculation fan in the air conditioning unit,
British Airways spokesperson Honor Verrier said.
"The plane landed normally and passengers disembarked normally," British
Airways spokesperson Honor Verrier said.
The aircraft was cleared for takeoff at 8 p.m. EDT Sunday evening.
