I do not know your source of information but all the controllers working
today would not have their jobs if it weren't for the 1981 actions. They
were part of the factions that did not want any of the PATCO controllers
rehired. Oh by the way it was an oath they were hired not a contract.

Here is some suggested reading:
http://eightiesclub.tripod.com/id296.htm
http://www.historychannel.com/speeches/archive/speech_227.html
http://www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2001/reagan.years/whitehouse/airtraffic.html

After you read this tell me what an across the board pay raise IIRC of
$10,000 per controller and a reduction of the work week from 40 to 32 hours
and then include a 30 minute paid lunch break in the basic work week is
considered anti-union. Ilook forward to your comments

Al

> Though they did break their contract by striking, the consequences of
their firing are now showing, as the FAA has a major shortage of controlers
in the near future. A greater degree of negotiation would have likely saved
a whole lot of pain for the FAA and US aviation, instead of the anti-union
stance taken. Given that ATC employees who identify with this have to work
in airports, including National, the person who attacked their livelihood
should not have an airport named after him.
