A couple of things

I can answer a couple of questions I've seen here recently. First, the
baggage being held at DFW. The bags will be weighed to help determine the exact CG
of the aircraft at the time of the incident. After being weighed they will be
returned to their owners. Routine action taken after every accident. Second,
SAM stands for Special Air Mission. On a flight tracker, the data block call
sign line will read S28000. The numbers are the registration number of that
particular aircraft. OK, I guess there were three things. I didn't see Charles'
picture but the 89th wing operates a large fleet of VIP configured aircraft. I
was stationed at Andrews AFB as a member of the US Navy in the early seventies.
At that time, the wing had over 30 aircraft in addition to the two AF1's. I'm
sure they've got a VC-9 or two. The other aircraft are for other government
officials. Not just the White House kind either. Cabinet members, legislators,
and senior members of the military use them.
