NEW DELHI : A 47-year-old electrical engineer was arrested for allegedly molesting an air-hostess of Thai Airways and passing lewd remarks. Amitabh Mitra, who was reportedly inebriated at the time also attempted to cause damage to the plane. He has, therefore, also been booked under the Aircraft Act for doing mischief inside the aircraft. This is the second incident in the last 10 days when a passenger has been arrested for misbehaving during the flight. A case was registered at the Indira Gandhi International Airport after the officials of Thai Airways reported the matter to the authorities and the police after midnight , when the flight landed. According to the complaint, Mitra insulted the air-hostess when she refused to serve him drinks. "She refused since he was inebriated. Mitra, however, got physical. He also took out a lighter to ignite it. The air-hostess raised an alarm and called for the stewards," an officer said. Mitra was overpowered by the stewards. He ws under strict supervision till the flight landed at the International airport in Delhi . During interrogation Mitra revealed he worked as an electrical engineer with a shipping company in Bangkog. He disclosed his residential address as that of Siliguri. On February 11, an Australian citizen was arrested while allegedly molesting an air-hostess of Air India . The accused was an NRI and had come to India to visit his family in Punjab . As per the complaint the accused had troubled the air-hostess twice during the flight. Six months ago, in a similar incident, the police had arrested a British and an Australian national for allegedly molesting an air-hostess of Biritish airways.
