Obviously, with the downturn in tourism after the huge highs of 1999 and 2000, the company has suffered financially, but things may be picking up again, especially in their bread-and-butter NYC-TLV market (viz, CO restarting their second daily). In the past 2 months, or so, I've seen a couple of articles in Ha'Aretz about El Al's initial stock tender, and within the past couple of weeks, an article about a possible takeover of El Al by Arkia. My guess is that you'd only find out about security-related items when they're spectacular, like the diversions to Mirabel/Hamilton. Otherwise, I doubt you'd hear anything about the smaller, lower-level security things that doubtlessly happen every day. I know it's not as exciting as airplane and route news, but you may want to check out a pair of Israeli business papers (in English) TheMarker http://www.themarker.com/eng/ and Globes http://globes.co.il/serveen/ Matthew :)
