Baha et al., Gee, my brother the doctor has no BMW (or anything similar), lives in the one house he has with his wife & kids and a mortgage, and gets up in the middle of the night to go see patients in the hospital. If his wife meets this student of yours, then my brother will hear about this for quite some time. :-) More seriously, I am a fan of all people making a living wage, making workers feel like human beings, and ending the outrageous salaries paid top execs. The math lesson for my students lies in the article. Not everyone earns the average salary, and yet the reporter Marshall cited that (or maybe the median) as if everyone made that salary. If we go to the median salary, half earn above the median salary and half earn less than the median salary. (You can't make the similar statement for "average" when salaries are skewed, as they likely are for waiters and pilots.) john On Thursday, October 2, 2003, at 06:52 AM, Bahadir Acuner wrote: > -------------------- > > By Randi F.
