I don't know how it works but can it be possible consider the engines having $0 value if the A310s that Turkish sold to Iran Air are fully depreciated by THY? These aircrafts were direct purchases from Airbus and served well for almost two decades in THY fleet. I even had a flight in the cockpit of one of the A310-200s IST-ESB. But I don't know how the whole thing works with the A320s. Last but not least, are the sanctions the same for Libya now? I know they have an A320 serving Istanbul from Tripoli with 6 hour delays on daily basis though :) BAHA Fan of cockpit visits.. -----Original Message----- From: The Airline List [mailto:AIRLINE@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Alireza Alivandivafa Sent: Thursday, July 31, 2003 2:57 AM To: AIRLINE@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: The EP AB6's Ok, I looked it up on the Census and Iran Air's AB6's are CF6 powered. With the trade restrictions, one would assume that they could not have the GE power. On closer inspection, however, Iran and Libya (which have the same restrictions) cannot have over 40 million dollars per year in US investement (hence the Conoco deal going to SNECMA, even though Iran was willing to take less from Conoco). Depending on how much those engines cost, there should not have been much of a problem getting a few planes a year with US engines. Also, it might be a good will gesture considering the fact that the USS Vincences screwed up bad and killed 290 while knocking an AB4 of EP out of the air in 1988, without warning or asking who they were using the correct channels
