The new services replace the current Business and Economy Classes respectively. International World Business Class customers connecting with KLM European flights at Amsterdam Schiphol will be accommodated in KLM Europe Select. For travel that begins and ends within Europe, KLM offers three distinctive fare types that complement the new classes of service- Select Fares for KLM Europe Select, Base Fares and Economy Fares for KLM Economy. Select Fares in KLM Europe Select The in-flight service offered in KLM Europe Select will be nearly identical to that currently offered in Business Class, including a wide range of beverages, meals and other facilities. The seating will now be six across but legroom will remain at 33 inches. The new configuration will make its debut with the Boeing 737-300/400 fleet starting in June. Passengers who choose KLM Europe Select are offered special Select Fares that provide flexible booking options. In addition, KLM Europe Select customers will receive comfortable and efficient ground handling services, access to separate check-in desks, and special "fast lane" services during the boarding process. These and other facilities will be available at KLM's home base, Amsterdam Schiphol. KLM will strive to introduce a similar level of ground service at other European airports, wherever possible. Base & Economy Fares in KLM Economy The in-flight service offered in KLM Economy will feature coffee, tea, soft drinks, and a sandwich or meal box (depending on the duration of the flight). There are six seats per row, with an average distance between seats of 31 inches. Newspapers and alcoholic beverages will be unavailable. Passengers who choose KLM Economy are offered Base Fares and Economy Fares. Base Fare seats are limited and must be purchased at least 14 days prior to travel. Reservations on Base Fare tickets may not be cancelled or rebooked. Economy Fares are slightly more expensive, but offer more flexible conditions. Reservations on Economy Fare tickets may be canceled and rebooked at a cost. The new classes of service will be offered on all European routes, except those operated by KLM cityhopper and KLM exel. Regardless of the class of service selected, Northwest and KLM customers will continue to receive quality service throughout their travel experience. This includes access to a global network, flights to primary airports, and service recovery in the event of unforeseen circumstances, such as flight cancellations. ================================================== NORTHWEST AND KLM ROYAL DUTCH AIRLINES EMAIL EXTRA (SM) FOR TRAVEL AGENTS ================================================== To enroll others in EMAIL Extra, or to view past EMAIL Extra communications, please visit www.worldagentdirect.com.
