US Airways' financial demands to state and local leaders top $659 million.

The airline wants $269.2 million in financial help from Gov. Ed Rendell, in addition to the previously reported $390 million in airport improvements at Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.

The list of demands to Rendell ranges from $100 million to buy 32 engines for smaller, regional jets to $16 million in tax breaks. It includes $52 million to build four jet simulators, $51.2 million to move, hire and train employees, and $50 million for jet parts.

Airline spokesman David Castleveter said the list is made up of "issues" to be worked out through negotiations.

"What we have done is outlined our financial needs for the company in Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania going forward, and we need to work with the city and state to meet these financial obligations," Castleveter said Thursday.

Castleveter also repeated the company line that the airline must lower its costs at Pittsburgh International Airport.
