Can't imagine DL opening a DEN hub, unless they closed SLC. AA...well...DFW isn't all that far, STL either... if DEN opened, STL would close. CO...again..already a lot of hubs..Bethune has hinted he is interested, but do they really need 4th US hub? Would they open DEN and close CLE..certainly, they wouldn't touch home to IAH! Same goes for NW..DTW seems to work well...MSP I would imagine, is not as financially sustainable, but again, hometown. DEN..well..I guess they could do it, but with their CO alliance, and DL signing on, do they need another huge extra fixed cost to tack onto their existing hubs? And US...well...they would certainly be left in the dark if UA disappeared...it would almost make sense for them to take over UAs DEN operations, but where is the money? They already have PIT and PHL...right next to each other.. but nothing out west... they could take DEN... and perhaps ORD too, and close PIT. I think what it comes down to, is that no one will be fighting for DEN...the airport will have to stiff it to the taxpayers and offer some really sweet deals to get carriers into those fine terminals. And they could be jetBlues and Southwests. MSP isn't that far from DEN... And Delta with it's gazillion hubs... > > They mentioned that CO has been talking about reactivating the hub at DEN.
