Italian pilots plan for strike ROME (AP) =97 Italian pilots were going on strike Tuesday, complaining that= =20 they are overworked and that this could threaten flight safety. Pilots and= =20 flight attendants were refusing to work for four hours Tuesday, causing=20 Italy's national carrier Alitalia to cancel 136 flights. The pilots' union= =20 ANPAC complains that in Italy crews find themselves working for up to 17=20 hours consecutively, although 12-hour shifts are normal in many other=20 countries. Alitalia said that of its 253 flights scheduled for Tuesday, 82= =20 national and 54 international flights would be canceled, although no=20 intercontinental flights were affected. The airline said 14,000 passengers= =20 would not be able to fly during the strike.
