Six injured as plane collides with jetway NEW YORK (AP) =97 Six airport workers suffered minor injuries Sunday when a= =20 plane struck a passenger loading bridge at La Guardia Airport, authorities= =20 said. Two mechanics were moving the Northwest Airlines Airbus A319 from a=20 parking space to a gate about 6:25 a.m. when the plane struck the loading=20 bridge, causing its landing gear to collapse, according to Kurt Ebenhoch,= =20 a spokesman for the airline. There were no passengers on the bridge or=20 plane, he said. A customer service agent on the bridge, three ground=20 employees guiding the aircraft and the two mechanics were taken to a=20 hospital, he said. One of the workers was treated for cracked ribs, one for= =20 a back injury and four for bruises, the spokesman said. Five of them were=20 released within a few hours A second Northwest airplane, a Boeing 757, also= =20 was damaged in the collision, and both planes were being removed from=20 service, Ebenhoch said. He could not immediately provide details on the=20 damage to the second plane. Two Northwest flights =97 Flight 1653, the= Boeing=20 757, scheduled to depart at 8 a.m. to Minneapolis, and Flight 531, the=20 Airbus A319, scheduled to leave at 2:59 p.m. for Detroit =97 were canceled.
