Here's one for the good guys. psa188@juno.com Australian Airline Order January 16, 2003 By BLOOMBERG NEWS SYDNEY, Australia, Thursday, Jan. 16 (Bloomberg News) - Virgin Blue Airlines, Australia's second-largest airline, may buy as many as 50 aircraft from the Boeing Company in a purchase worth 5.4 billion Australian dollars ($3.1 billion). Boeing beat Airbus for the order after 10 months of negotiations, Virgin said. Virgin will receive 10 of Boeing's 737-800 aircraft by August 2004 and has an option to buy another 40 planes in the next 10 years, it said. The order will almost triple the number of planes flown by Virgin and may help it increase its 23 percent share of the Australian market at the expense of its larger rival, Qantas Airways. http://www.nytimes.com/2003/01/16/business/16BLUE.html?ex=1043752221&ei=1&en=3577a909a2f29581 HOW TO ADVERTISE --------------------------------- For information on advertising in e-mail newsletters or other creative advertising opportunities with The New York Times on the Web, please contact onlinesales@nytimes.com or visit our online media kit at http://www.nytimes.com/adinfo For general information about NYTimes.com, write to help@nytimes.com.
