(UAL <http://money.excite.com/jsp/qt/full.jsp?time=3D0&symbol_search_text=3DUA= L> ) said Tuesday its board of directors and labor committee have approved the two tentative agreements negotiated by the pilots and flight attendant unions for wage cuts. Rank-and-file members of both unions also have to ratify the deals, which were hammered out between management and their master executive councils. Flight attendants over the weekend agreed to cut wages by $412 million, and pilots recently agreed to $2.2 billion in cuts, both over a period of 5-1/2 years. The deals are designed to help No. 2 U.S. carrier United Airlines win federal backing of a $1.8 billion loan and avoid filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
