Bahadir, Weather in Holland on Sunday was horrendous. Westerly gale of 50 kts, gusting to 65. Schiphol never actually closed, but was down to one usable runway (RW27) for both takeoffs and landings. Most European flights were cancelled, most others severely delayed. Road traffic was dangerous due to falling trees, building materials etc. The railways were severly affected and gave up completely after 8 pm (deciding it was better to regroup resources for Monday morning rather than trying to continue with a nearly impossible task). In Western Europe 20 or so people were killed due to weather over the weekend (of which half a dozen in Holland). Many peoples spent hours stranded at airports and railway stations, going nowhere in the end. So it would seem that the people on NW33 were actually among the lucky ones.
