Passenger fined for drunken disturbance Canadian Press..Thursday October 24, 2002 A Boston man has been fined more than $7,000 after his drunken antics forced a plane to make an unscheduled landing in Winnipeg earlier this week. Forty-four-year-old Ying Kei Kwok was one of 39 passengers on board Air Canada Flight 763 from Boston to Vancouver. Kwok was drinking vodka from his carry-on luggage and became abusive when flight attendants attempted to wake him about 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning. He yelled, pushed people and fell down several times before the pilot of the Airbus decided to make an emergency landing at Winnipeg International Airport. A diabetic, Kwok was taken to hospital to be checked before being lodged in a prison cell, where he spent the night. He pleaded guilty to charges of mischief Wednesday. Defence lawyer Michael Cook told court his client was so embarrassed about the incident, he was afraid to tell his family.
