AmWest: Use It or Lose It

Phoenix based America West Airlines sez its time for National Airlines to
fish or cut bait with their dormant LAS-DCA route...and guess who wants it??
Cactus is petitioning the feds to start using that route because National has
no specific plan to resume flying it. AmWest currently has one LAS-DCA
non-stop a day..this would be their second. Unless of course some other
carrier can make a persuasive argument that the route should be moved
elsewhere (AS got TW's LAX-DCA route when AMR took over). Knowing the
relationship between National's Mike Conway and his ex carrier, this should
be an interesting battle!

Meanwhile back in Tempe...the NTSB sez the reason the main landing gear
collapsed on that Cactus A320 back in August was because maintenance
disengaged one thrust reverser. While the captain was attempting to steer
the aircraft after touch down, he used breaking and a full left rudder..the
Bus steered to the right and ran off the runway. Dirt 1, Landing Gear 0.
Now I don't make a living flying these things, but somehow this picture
doesn't look right to me!
